Jo Hollis

Jo grew up in Bury St Edmunds and studied Visual Art at Aberystwyth University before moving to Spain where she lived and worked for eight years. Her style has clearly been impacted by her experiences and studies in Madrid where she shared a studio with her mentor Paco Pinuela.

Jo works from her Suffolk based studio predominately in oil, working from pastel, watercolour and pencil studies gathered in her sketchbook. Her work is both colourful and gestural with subject matter mostly focussed on landscape and still life. She has been influenced by painters such as Peter Lanyon, Roger Hilton and Ivon Hitchens amongst others.

Jo has exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London, in Portugal and throughout East Anglia, and has had work accepted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
