James Maturin-Baird is a photographer and designer, working from his studio in Bures near Sudbury, Suffolk. He has been taking photographs since the age of six and joined the photographic team at Conde Nast Publications soon after leaving school. James then studied at The City and Guilds of London Art School, travelled extensively and earned his living as a freelance social and travel photographer. In 1998 James gained a degree in Design from Colchester Institute. He has subsequently gained vocational photographic qualifications and studied Victorian photographic printing with the artist Noel Myles. In 2002 he joined Jain Spirit magazine as art editor and became responsible for research and editing, commissioning photographers and illustrators, art directing and creating illustrations and curating the photo library and a travelling exhibition.

Biba, Birch Conran Gallery, JP Design, Twink Records, Gallery of Antique Costume and Design, Glebe Farm Hedging, Chelsea Gardener, ByPass Nurseries, The Garden Broker, Brown & Co, Savills, Reeman Dansie Auctions, The Folio Society, Ata Rangi Vineyard and Inter-Islander Ferries (Both in N.Z.) and Take 2 and Lorraine Ashton Model Agencies. He has previously exhibited on several occasions in multi-artist shows (Eastern Perspectives Gallery, Upstairs at the Red Lion, Stoke by Nayland Art Fair) and He has prints in both private and company collections.
James Maturin-Baird is a much-published freelance photographer and art editor. He attended City and Guilds of London Art School and Colchester Institute where he gained a BA (Hons) in Art & Design. The great majority of the images on display come from an ongoing project to shoot a photo a day over a 1000 day period. The photos are printed on fibre based paper. The framing was done by Bill Chatten of Bures.
